Raskin @ MiLB.com:

Sunday may have been Stephen McCray’s second professional start, but it probably won’t be his last. The 16th-round pick this year’s Draft allowed two baserunners over six hitless innings as the Great Falls Voyagers cruised to a 9-4 victory over the Helena Brewers.

Boxscore:

Great Falls
Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA
McCray (W, 3-2) 6.0 0 0 0 0 6 0 2.76
Curry 1.0 3 4 0 0 1 1 6.15
Wilson, J (S, 3) 2.0 0 0 0 0 3 0 1.99

McCray has a 33 K / 12 BB ratio, 34 H, 3 HR,  in 32.2 innings.

And Jacob Wilson has a 29 K / 5 BB ratio, 16 H, 1 HR, in 22.2 innings.

Kenny likes the current team:

Another consideration is that the Sox like the way their roster is constructed while putting a premium on defense, where Omar Vizquel has solidified the third base position since Teahen was injured.

“There’s no rush,” general manager Ken Williams said Sunday morning. … “I think more than anything, you’re trying to put the best roster on the field to win today’s game. The last thing I want to happen is we lose this division by one game, a half game, and we think back and were there times, and I do that. I go back, ‘we should have won this game, we should have won that game. You put the best team out there when you can put the best team out there. There are advantages, roster-wise, when you get to September, but the focus has to be on today.”

You should’ve thought that before trading for him and then giving him a 3-year contract, Kenny.

Konerko agreed, pointing out that the first four months of the season should have been the ultimate judge in that.

“I mean we’re four months in now,” Konerko said. “Four months is usually a pretty good test of a team to show you’re capable or not capable.”

Just keep in mind the division you’ve been playing these 4 months in Paulie.
