MLBTR:

The Yankees like John Danks and the White Sox like many Yankees prospects, particularly Austin Romine. However, Danks is a free agent after 2012 and the Yankees are reluctant to over-spend on a pitcher they’ll have for just one year.

Romine got 20 PAs with the Yankees in 2011. Here are his minor-league stats:

If Kenny trades John Danks he better ask for someone with a career minor-league OBP higher than .333. A higher ISOP [ISOP=SLG-BA] too.

A major league source said Monday that the Yankees have interest in White Sox left-hander Matt Thornton if Williams starts making moves. Thornton was also said to be of interest to the St. Louis Cardinals in a report on the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

and Gonzales @ CT:

A major league source said the Cardinals remain interested in [Edwin] Jackson, and [Colby] Rasmus is receiving interest from two American League East teams.

UPDATE: Other White Sox links: Mike looks at the Edwin Jackson/Matt Thornton for Colby Rasmus trade rumor, James recaps the past week and comments on many more things, J.J. looks at some spring training game-worn jerseys, and Brett Ballantini calculates the Sox player values for the past 10 days.

White Sox interested in Kerry Wood? [UPDATE #2]

Filed under: Chicago White Sox — The Wizard @ December 7, 2010 11:56 am
Tags: , , , ,

Rosenthal @ FS tweets:

Yankees still want Kerry Wood back; [Cliff] Lee comes first. White Sox also showing interest in Wood; [Paul] Konerko first. Sox need late-inning help.

Wood wasn’t offered arbitration so he won’t cost any draft picks. But if Paulie wants $15 million per year there won’t be any money left for bullpen guys like Wood…

UPDATE: DV Dyck says “Wood is thought to be seeking a multi-year deal worth $9 million or more.” Kenny just hanged up..

UPDATE #2: Cowley tweets:

Sox-Wood rumors were just blown-up by a source. Sox feel Wood is too expensive even if they don’t get Konerko.

Washington “not that hot” on Edwin Jackson [UPDATE #3]

Gammons (MLB):

Nats not that hot for Edwin jackson

Please tell me the Sox weren’t fleeced again: Linebrink, Swisher II, Teahen…

UPDATE: Good News: Ballantini (CSN):

Jackson is merely the most crucial piece to securing Adam Dunn…The big fella is on his way to Chicago, friends. Waiting on Nats sign-off.

Bad News: Rosenthal (FS):

Rival exec still believes Yankees are in heavy on Dunn. Their “we’re out” message was directed at Nationals: Quit messing around!

UPDATE #2: WSCR AM670 says Washington isn’t trading Dunn.

UPDATE #3: Padilla @ ESPN:

reports indicate that last-place Washington doesn’t want anything to do with Jackson.

Alex Rodriguez on Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf: He’s the greatest (Gordon Beckham is great too)

Oh boy, the media in New York will have a lot to say about A-Rod’s comments for Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf:

A-Rod loves Chicago and White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf, as well: “To me, he’s the greatest guy. He loves baseball and the people in it. It seems all he cares about is that the White Sox win. Look at the move he made to let his general manager go for Jake Peavy. Chicago fans should love the guy. He’s all about winning.”

The greatest. As in the best there is. Better than the Yankees owners.

A-Rod commented on Gordon Beckham too:

In closing, A-Rod talked to me about White Sox third base phenom Gordon Beckham: “He looks like a wonderful player. Wow, what a natural stroke, nice and compact, just like a young Paul Molitor. I think he’s going to be outstanding.”
