Fresno Pacific infielder Andrew Douglas, having just completed a highly-decorated four-year career with the Sunbirds, was helping his parents redo the roof of their house on Tuesday. While ripping off shingles and contemplating what was next for the All-Academic Psychology grad, his phone rang.
On the other end? A scout from the Chicago White Sox telling Douglas to keep his phone on him for the next couple hours.
“I thought it would be a good idea to get off the roof at this point, just so nothing bad would happen because I might have a new employer,” said Douglas.

Douglas, 6’0” 210lbs, wasn’t drafted and was signed as a free-agent.
