No, I feel pretty bad when I hear the name Daniel Hudson. What was Kenny hoping to do when he did the trade? Wasn’t he aware Hudson was in his first year of service time, that Edwin Jackson’s contract would be over after the 2011 season, and that Jackson’s agent was Scott Boras?

Schouwen @ CST:

After breezing through six scoreless innings of a rehab start for Class AAA Charlotte on Thursday night, Jake Peavy appears ready to face the Cubs on Wednesday night at U.S. Cellular Field, pitching coach Don Cooper said Friday.Manager Ozzie Guillen said the six-man starting rotation also appears to be back, probably through the All-Star break.“Without discussing it with Ozzie and [GM] Kenny [ Williams], it looks like he’s lined up for the last game against the Cubs,’’ Cooper said. “That’s unofficial, as well as the six-man rotation. But all of that is going to be discussed and probably shook out after the game today or tomorrow. We’ll talk more about it.”

VanderPas @ APC:

He wasn’t selected in the June amateur baseball draft and he’s not expected to be in the big leagues soon.

Nevertheless, a baseball dream came true for 2007 Fox Valley Lutheran graduate Jon Gulbransen prepared to sign as a free agent by the Chicago White Sox later today.

… Gulbransen pitched for four years at Valparaiso University. He majored in finance and compiled a 3.79 grade point average.

Gulbransen wasn’t drafted and was signed as a free-agent.
