WhiteSox.com reminds us team doesn’t have any pitching prospects

Monday’s latest entry came from ESPN.com, with a brief mention of rumblings involving a three-way deal involving the Nationals, White Sox and D-backs, with Edwin Jackson going to the Nationals, pitching prospects going to the D-backs and the White Sox getting their coveted left-handed run producer in Adam Dunn.

One problem in this particular equation is that the White Sox don’t have any true pitching prospects to deal aside from Daniel Hudson. If the White Sox decide to trade Hudson, the move also leaves them thin in the starting rotation without a corresponding move.

And this team’s ultimate success is predicated on its front five and overall pitching depth. Williams seemed to indicate, without mentioning names specifically, how starting second baseman Gordon Beckham and/or starting right fielder Carlos Quentin won’t be going anywhere.

Of course, time exists for Williams to change his mind. …

  1. i cant see any reason not to just go get Luke Scott, he’s a definite upgrade and should not cost nearly as much as some other LH hitters. i hope this is the way KW goes.

    • right on both counts

definite upgrade and shouldn’t be as costly as dunn/fielder

what about laroche/branyan? not as good but still upgrades?

      • No doubt. Obviously anything is an upgrade over Kotsay, Scott just seems to be flying under the radar for some reason (tho supposedly their’s some weird stories about him). Either way, his numbers are very nice and he would add so much to this team at the 6th spot. Ugh i dread the thought of giving up Hudson and Flowers/Morel for a 2-3 month rental of Dunn.

  2. Ozzie manages just like it’s still,2005. He keep putting Jenks in late so he can give up the lead. While he is still good enough to bring a good return, he can be traded before the whole league find out about him. Trade him streight up for,a left handed slugger. ala P. Fielder ???

    • Does he have any trade value left? He gets $7.5 million this year and probably more next year.

If you were a GM, would you trade for him?

  3. Now tell me, who would you rather have right now,Betemite,or,Teahan ? Williams almost always give up way too much for what he get in return.
Teahen can’t play 3rd base, and can’t hit. Just think about all those players he gave up for what?
All those good players, and one of the best left handers coming up 4 Peavey. He would have been just fine in our lineup.
