Manager Ozzie Guillen would like Quentin to wear protection more often as he did Saturday night when he went 0-for-4 in the 3-2 loss to the Twins. In his first at-bat, Quentin donned a left elbow pad and he sported an elastic brace on his right hand that was bruised two days earlier by a pitch.
“He just has to wear it,” Guillen said. “Over his career, even in the minors and college he got hit a lot. You can’t change that. One thing about it, I hope he gets hit on his shoulder. When he opens his (stance), his hands are right there and that’s why he’s hit a lot. That’s why you hope nothing happens.”
