I was reading John Sickels’ Prospect Retro: Nelson Cruz and noticed Cruz’ atrocious walk rates during his first 2 years on the States. Can Dayan Viciedo become the next Nelson Cruz please?

John Fogerty’s ‘Centerfield’ will enter baseball’s Hall of Fame

John Fogerty’s “Centerfield” has logged more time in baseball stadiums than most Hall of Famers. Now, the classic song is about to get its due in Cooperstown.

The Baseball Hall of Fame said that “Centerfield” will be honored at this summer’s induction ceremonies, the first time a musician or a song has been celebrated as a part of the festivities.

“As a little boy I loved baseball. I dreamed about being a major league player. Of course it didn’t work out that way. But to be associated at all, in any way, is a wonderful honor,” he said.

Already in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Fogerty will perform the song at the sport’s shrine on July 25.

Take it away John:

There are 4 teams with 4 after Houston.

MLBBB Mock Draft: White Sox pick Brandon Workman at #13

Filed under: Chicago White Sox — The Wizard @ May 24, 2010 6:12 pm

13. Chicago White Sox – Brandon Workman, RHP, Texas – Like Allie, Workman has changed the minds of the scouting community quite recently in a positive direction. After scuffling through a few starts early in the season, he’s turned it on over the last month, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him off the board in the top half of the first round. The White Sox aren’t being clear about their direction, except to point out that they’re likely to stick to slot again.

MLB Draft Central has a scouting report and video for Brandon Workman.

Kevin Goldstein on Dan Hudson

Dan Hudson, RHP, White Sox (Triple-A Charlotte)

If there’s one thing that makes scouts (and those in the prospect-ranking business) nervous, it’s the out-of-nowhere guy. In 2009, Hudson was just that, as the fifth-round pick in the 2008 draft went from Low-A to the big leagues while putting up some off the best numbers in the minor leagues. Sent to Triple-A in order to get more innings, Hudson struggled in April, hitting rock bottom in his fourth start of the year when he allowed nine runs in one inning to raise his ERA to 9.37. Call it adjustments, call it small sample size, but the Hudson we saw last year, with the outstanding command of a deep arsenal is back. On Sunday, he struck out a season-high 11 over eight shutout innings while giving up three hits, and in five May starts he’s whiffed 41 in 32 innings with a 1.97 ERA. If you’re the White Sox and you’re not exactly going anywhere, why not see what you have here?
