The new at-bat song is a Paul Konerko suggestion: Metallica’s ‘Seek & Destroy. ‘ Beckham wanted to go song-less:
Ozzie Guillen thought Beckham’s previous at-bat song, The Outfield’s ‘Your Love’, wasn’t ‘Chicago Tough’:
“(‘Your Love’) is a romantic song,” Guillen said. “You need to pick a song that’s tough.”
he added:
“I don’t know how people (decide) when they’re going to change what kind of music they’re playing. When Babe Ruth hit, and all those guys were playing, they didn’t have a sound system in the stadium, and they had like 4,000 hits. I think the last thing Paul Molitor and all those Hall of Famers worried about was what kind of music was playing.”
but if Beckham starts hitting things change:
“If he’s going to start hitting, I’ll bring the band. I’ll pay every day for them to have a concert for him,” said a smiling Guillen. … “But … I would bring Michael Jackson back to life. I would have a concert every day and fire all the coaches.”
UPDATE: Michael and the band are coming!
It’s true. Your love is too romantic!
