“I’m a true believer in looking at a guy’s track record,” said reliever Matt Thornton, who picked up the win Monday. “In baseball, we say look at the back of his baseball card.”
“Jake Peavy has the credentials, lots of success and great stuff,” Thornton said on “The Waddle & Silvy Show” on ESPN 1000. “He’s got unbelievable offspeed stuff, a great sinker and a competitive nature that only a few guys in baseball have.
“He’s going to be fine. I don’t worry about him at all, not one little bit. I really think he’ll bounce back. He might go out the next few times and do the same thing, but I really don’t think so. He works too hard and is too dedicated to the game. He’ll be just fine.”
