Jared Mitchell of the #WhiteSox suffered a torn tendon in his left ankle and will require surgery next week

Mitchell was injured at the game against the Angels today.

UPDATE: Merkin:

Prospect Jared Mitchell sustained a tendon tear on the inside of his left ankle during Friday’s 10-7 win over the Angels at Tempe Diablo Stadium after running into the left-field wall to make a catch.

Mitchell had entered the game as a defensive replacement and made a spectacular catch on a ball hit by Juan Rivera to make the first out of the sixth inning, but he hit the wall hard. He will undergo surgery next week, and his recovery and rehab time will be set at that point.

No. 1 draft pick Jared Mitchell will undergo surgery on his left ankle next week and could miss most of the season after colliding with the wall while making a catch against the Angels.
