On Friday night, [Kenny] Williams will try to make the audience laugh when he serves as a celebrity guest in “Night of 1,000 Noogies,” at the Park West. The improv event also features Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen and members of The Second City comedy troupe. … Tickets are $125 and $75, and proceeds benefit Gilda’s Club Chicago, a free support community for men, women, children, families and friends touched by cancer. Sox exercise Matt Thornton’s 2010 option

The White Sox exercised their 2010 club options on right-hander Freddy Garcia and lefty Matt Thornton on Tuesday. Garcia will earn a base salary of $1 million next season and Thornton will get $2.25 million.

The White Sox exercised the option for next year on veteran right-handed pitcher Freddy Garcia. Garcia, 34, will make a $1 million base salary, plus a possible $2 million in incentives.

The $2 million in incentives is based on the amount of innings pitched.

Nancy Faust to retire at the end of the season next year

Nancy Faust, beloved fixture as the White Sox organist for 40 years, says she will be playing her swan song at the end of the 2010 season. “It won’t be easy, but the timing is just right to move on,” Faust said. “Next year will be my 41st season. Never did I imagine that I would be saying that. The truth is, as soon as they won the World Series and I started to negotiate for the next year, one of the suggestions I threw out was: ‘Well, perhaps one of the things you want me to do is only play during day games.’ They heartily agreed that was a great idea. That sent a message to me. That would be an easy way to make a transition for them. The fact that they agreed to it made me feel like I was doing the right thing. I don’t want to overstay myself. I have known for five years that that was the most that I could possibly do.” …
