A scout view of Jake Peavy

Filed under: Chicago White Sox — The Wizard @ August 1, 2009 7:23 pm

here’s the view of an an “impartial scout” that has seen Peavy a lot:

“Jake Peavy is an outstanding competitor, one of the best competitors I’ve seen. He has a delivery that is complex and he needs to pitch a lot of innings to maintain command. He has, at times, an above-average fastball, a very good cut fastball, a slider that can be one of the better ones. He also throws a curveball and will dabble with a changeup. He’s a strikeout pitcher and a high-count pitcher. So he doesn’t go as deep in games as you’d like outing after outing.”
