Dave van Dyck:

While Quentin might like to return from plantar fasciitis for the weekend series in the Metrodome, manager Ozzie Guillen isn’t so sure.

“I’m worried about the artificial grass in Minnesota and I worry about calling him up too quickly,” Guillen said. “Right now we don’t need him. We want him, but we don’t need him.”

More Ozzie:

According to manager Ozzie Guillen, Quentin is still having trouble cutting while running the bases, so he might remain on his rehabilitation assignment until after the all-star break. “He’s running well,” Guillen said. “He’s not 100 percent, I don’t think he’s 80 percent. Running straight is OK, but he still has something in the back of his mind, like when he comes back he doesn’t want to be limping.”

Even more Ozzie:

Outfielder Carlos Quentin is in Charlotte for his rehab assignment. He went 0-for-3 with a walk Monday as he comes back from a foot injury. Quentin played as the DH, but Guillen is more concerned now in how mobile he is. ”I don’t care about 0-for-3,” Guillen said. ”When he’s running straight, he’s OK, but he still has something in the back of his mind [about running]. He doesn’t have to be 100 percent, but he has to be good enough to perform.”

Guillen said Quentin wouldn’t be activated before the All-Star break because the Sox play on artificial turf Friday-Sunday in Minnesota. ”And I don’t want to call him back too quickly, either,” he said.
