Couldn’t the Sox call up someone, anyone, from the minors since the bullpen was tired? Dylan Axelrod? Terry Doyle? Brian Omogrosso? Charlie Shirek? Deunte Heath? After 8 innings Sale had thrown 101 pitches. Ventura/Cooper could have take him out then. And he threw 115 pitches last time.
I, also, see the number of sliders increasing. Hmmm….
Well with days off and that skipped start I hope Coop knows what he’s doing. Lordy he looked nasty today.

oh yes, that he did!
I wanted so badly for Ventura/Cooper to take him out after 8. 115 last time and 119 today. I hope and pray they keep him around 100 in the games he pitches the rest of the year. As you say, I hope Coop knows what he’s doing!

Looking at Mark Buehrle’s B-R page I see after he pitched 51 innings out of the pen in 2000 he shot to 221 in 2001.

Jon Garland is a different story though. 70 innings in 2000 (15 g, 13 gs), 117 ip in 2001, 192 ip in 2002. More progressive.

I forgot John Danks. 139 ip in 2007, 195 in 2008.
