From page 66 of Monday’s (1/17/11) Tribune:

Gonzales wrote in his Sunday mailbag that “Dayan has worked hard since his first spring training and has kept his weight at a playable level.” I guess that’s good (Viciedo keeping his weight at a playable level)!

I’m obviously a Sox fan. Having said that, I think Viciedo has the potential to be a borderline all star if he would get his head/weight straight. He’s the guy in our system that ive followed the most, and I still have hope for him.

Oh yeah, I’d like very much to have another El Caballo. Have you seen any other players with so bad plate discipline early on be successful in the major leagues? One I noticed was Nelson Cruz. I was reading John Sickels’ Prospect Retro: Nelson Cruz and saw Cruz had 4/20, 9/58 K/BB and 29/128 ratios in his first 3 years in the minors. Viciedo had 23/89 and 11/78 K/BB ratios in his first 2 years. It’d be awesome if Viciedo develops to a Cruz-type player. But then Cruz needed a lot of time. Will the White Sox give Viciedo the same time?

put him in right or left? and is this a thought for this next season?

if he shows competency why not? but probably they look for next year though since the outfield for this season seems set

yeah that’s why I was asking, the outfield looks good and they would probably have de aza or danks or both on as bench outfielders. and I would rather see them out there.
honestly, I’d rather see viceiedo in AAA for the season to develop because he needs to learn to take his walks and be more selective because at his current rate he won’t make it in the majors with that flaw. but he does have great power and promise, in the future.
