Don’t underestimate the questionable decisions people make when they want something/someone really bad. They act first and rationalize later. When Florida opens a new stadium in 2012, Florida owner Jeffrey Loria really wants Guillen there. Loria won’t take the chance that Guillen’s option won’t be exercised by the Sox for the 2012 season. Also, the option automatically vests for 2012 if the Sox win the division.

your 'don't underestimate' comment is so true. one can see it in so many aspects of life. people can make a lot of questionable decisions to get something they think they gotta have.

A nice by-product of Guillen leaving would be that his worthless son Oney would likely go with him to Florida. Oney taking the vendetta-driven Joe Cowley along with him would be even better.

oney would be nice. cowley would be awesome!

Here's the key sentence in KW's response "That's tampering. All I can say is the report isn't COMPLETELY accurate." This leads to the obvious question "Which part of the report is accurate and which part is not?" I would think the following is true (1) the Marlins want Guillen and (2) the Sox will let Guillen go, but only if compensated. The Stanton give-up may be the inaccuracy, but other players may also have been discussed.

With the Sox need for LHH and Konerko's possible departure, Florida 1B prospect Logan Morrison would be a wonderful addition. [This would also free up Viciedo as trade bait if he's no longer Konerko's replacement - maybe packaged with Escobar? ]. Florida LHP prospect Chad James could also help the Sox down the road.
