“I spoke to him and I asked him to do one thing for me,” Williams said. “Go back to being the Gordon Beckham of last year. I asked him to go back to his setup of last year, free his hands up, take his hacks and not worry about contact as much as taking a good swing and driving the ball. He’s looked a lot better.”
Beckham got an eXtra Base Hit (2B) tonight after 112 ABs without an XBH.

“It’s reassuring,” said Beckham, who received an encouraging talk from Williams on Sunday. “I had a talk with him, and it made a lot of sense. I moved my hands back in a more powerful position. And I got to see the ball and hit the ball and make good decisions on good pitches to hit. And it was good to hear from him and see the double.
“I hit that ball well, but I didn’t hit it great. It almost got out of there. It’s a step in the right direction.”
