The White Sox have signed veteran left-handed reliever Alan Embree to a minor-league contract.
Embree has a 4.59 ERA in 882 major-league appearances with nine teams. He will report to Triple-A Charlotte. Boston designated him for assignment on May 1. Embree pitched for the Sox in 2001.
