Kenny @ 0:45: Ideally I would like to have given you guys more guys who can get on base

Ozzie @ 2:15: I’m from Caracas, what do you think, we grew up on the street

Andruw goes yard twice. Sox win 7-6. (Pitch F/X)

A.J.’s 2-run double overcomes Linebrinks disastrous 4 run outing and pushs the Sox to a 7-6 win.

A look at the TBs: Andruw 8 TBs (2 HR, BB, SB), A.J. Pierzynski 4 TBs (2B, 2 1B), Kotsay 4 TBs (HR, BB), Konerko 2 TBs (2B, BB). Carlos had 2 BBs too.

SoxMachine’s Minor-league review [UPDATE]

Here’s the section on Tyler Flowers:

Flowers is clearly in time-biding mode.  If Andruw Jones is ever pressed into full-time outfield duty, whether it’s due to Juan Pierre’s ineptitude or Carlos Quentin’s poor health, Flowers should be the first option to serve as the majority DH and occasional catcher.

Allow me to reiterate that Flowers seems like he’ll be a slow starter at the major-league level due to his K-rate.  For whatever reason — probably because A.J. Pierzynski is a great clubhouse source — there are a lot of people waiting, perhaps even hoping, for Flowers to fail.  But he’s the only hope the Sox have of getting an above-average hitter for the league minimum, so that kind of pressure seems to be counterproductive.

Much more at the link.

UPDATE: Here’s Part II.

Here’s Ozzie Guillen:

“J.P.’s a big key for us but right now he’s trying to do too much.”

How about he can’t do it?

“Hopefully, this (not leading off) helps him for a couple of days. But if we’re going to have the best team on the field, J.P has to be the leadoff (hitter) and I expect that pretty soon.”

Pretty soon? Damn.

BTW,

Guillen said he “didn’t see any room” for former slugger Jermaine Dye on the Sox’s roster.
