While Garcia’s status as the Sox’s fifth starter appears stable for now, Guillen appears willing to settle Andruw Jones somewhere in the lineup.
“The way he’s swinging the bat, he’ll play every day,” Guillen said before Jones went 0-for-3 with a walk. “Where? The three (outfield positions) plus designated hitter. We have four positions for him to play every day.”
The temporary promotion is the latest chapter in Jones’ comeback since he signed with the Sox as a free agent in November to serve as the DH against left-handed starters and occasionally start in the outfield.
