Ozzie also said that when A. Jones is in lineup he’ll mosty be in OF, not DH.
Does that mean less Juan Pierre?
UPDATE: Gregor has more:
Ozzie said the left-handed hitting Kotsay and right-handed Andruw Jones are likely to platoon this season, with a slight twist.
Jones will be the designated hitter quite a bit vs. left-handed starters, but Ozzie said he is more likely to play the outfield when he does start.
Jones can play all three outfield spots, and it looks like he’ll be mostly used in left, with Pierre either taking a seat or moving to DH.
UPDATE #2: Merkin explains things:
With five right-handed starters scheduled by Cleveland and Minnesota, the right-handed-hitting Andruw Jones might not find many at-bats in this first homestand. When Jones does get out on the field, though, manager Ozzie Guillen said on Wednesday that the veteran will get plenty of time in the outfield.”I’m pretty sure when Jones is in the lineup, he’ll be in the outfield. That’s what we think,” Guillen said. “Maybe I might change or not. He’s one of the best outfielders we have.” …
