Cuban native Dayan Viciedo, the big third baseman/first baseman, hit just .182 in 10 spring games and will be spending his first summer at Charlotte, so the media were curious what manager Ozzie Guillen expected of him.

“To get the (bleep) out of here quickly as he can,” Guillen said. “I think he has a great chance to be a big league player and that’s our expectation. He will dictate to us how fast he’s going to be in the big leagues.

“He has two choices: Buy a house here in Charlotte or get his stuff together and come to the big leagues.”

Viciedo hit .280 at AA Birmingham last season and is signed through 2012.

“Maybe I have once or twice, but not in a big league game,” Vizquel said of the unusual move. “I think it’s a presentation at-bat, so the fans know I made the trip and am still on the team.”

But Ozzie is serious:

But Guillen also said he wouldn’t be averse to using Vizquel or left fielder Juan Pierre as DH during the season, even though the spot historically has been saved for home run hitters.

“I might do that,” he said. “We might do a lot of things, especially with a lefty pitching. But I don’t mind putting those guys in the DH spot.”

Ken Rosenthal likes the White Sox team

Rosenthal:

… The White Sox, at the very least, will be a better team than most people think.

Their pitching, starting and relief, could be astonishingly good. They will score enough runs only if center fielder Alex Rios and right fielder Carlos Quentin produce monster seasons, and that’s a lot to ask. But the Twins’ loss of closer Joe Nathan created an opening, and if the Sox reach the postseason, a rotation of Peavy, Mark Buehrle, Gavin Floyd and John Danks could evoke memories of their title run in ’05. …

FutureSox reviews Sox centerfield prospects

Here’s what they have to say on Jordan Danks:

What he needs to improve: Assuming Jordan is healthy, his priority will be cutting down on his strikeouts. Considering the former Longhorn isn’t a big power threat his K rate (23% in ’09) is dreadful. He simply can’t strikeout that much and succeed as a #2 type hitter in the Majors. You can’t blame the strikeouts on the injuries either. His monthly splits were consistent before and after the injuries.

Tyler Flowers / C/1B / Chicago White Sox
2010 thoughts:
Most are in agreement over Flowers’ poor spring training. At this point logic would dictate that Flowers spends the entire year at Triple-A Charlotte.
Average-year projection:
.268 / .356 / 18 HR / 28 2B / 1 3B / 78 RBI / 72 R / 73 BB / 117 SO / 2 SB / 2 CS
Prime-year projection:
