Gordon Beckham made a diving stop to his left and threw out a runner Sunday against the Reds. It was his first non-routine play at second base after moving from third last summer.
“He’ll be fine,” said coach Joey Cora, who hits him ground balls every day. “What he did last year in coming to the big leagues and moving to third and succeeding tells me he’ll be fine. Last year wasn’t fair, this year is.”
Here’s video of Beckham’s catch.
Gordon Beckham continued to secure his spot as the No. 2 hitter with his best game of the spring, going 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI.
