Reinsdorf on Jim Thome:

“I would love to have Jim Thome back on this club, but I don’t make the roster. Kenny and Ozzie do.  Ozzie has made it very clear that he likes the team the way it is. He doesn’t want to have a full-time DH. If you’re going to hold a man accountable for him to do his job, you got to get him the team that he wants.” … “If we have the opportunity to get really better, the money will be there,” Reinsdorf said.  “I wouldn’t hesitate to take the chance if something really good comes along.”

The video of the interview is 6:16.

DH:

The White Sox and catcher Ramon Castro have agreed to terms on a one-year, $800,000 contract which includes a club option for 2011 at $1.2 million with a $200,000 buyout. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Sox designated catcher Cole Armstrong for assignment. …

Stats: B-R. Castro had a .204 BABIP last year playing for the Sox.

Looks like Tyler Flowers will begin the year in Charlotte.

BTW, the 40-man roster is full, so if the Sox sign someone, they must release someone.

Just as I have done the past few years, I have uploaded and attached the new Top Prospects Compilation file to this blog posting. Prospect rankings from Baseball America, BP’s Kevin Goldstein, and MiLB.com are just some of those that you’ll find in the file.

The Excel workbook contains several tabs at the bottom representing each of the league’s divisions as well as a tab for top 100 lists and the top 20 lists from Baseball America.

Every time I update the file, I will change the topic heading to show the date of the revisions. If you are aware of any current prospects sites that I may be missing, please drop me a line.
