from Jim Callis’ unsigned draft picks update:
Bryan Morgado, lhp (3rd round): May get over-slot bonus
Justin Jones, lhp (7th round): Expected to attend California
This from Yahoo/Rivals:
Outfielder Brian Goodwin, meanwhile, a 17th-round pick of the White Sox, is expected to report to campus for classes [North Carolina].
UPDATE: Gonzales:
The Sox are facing a Monday night deadline for signing supplemental third-round draft pick Bryan Morgado and seventh-round pick Justin Jones. The Sox will receive a 2010 draft pick if Morgado isn’t signed. Morgado could return to Tennessee for his junior season. Morgado was 4-2 with a 6.36 ERA with 75 strikeouts in 52 1/3 innings for the Volunteers but pitched exceptionally well in the Cape Cod League this summer. Jones is expected to honor his commitment to the University of California.
BIG LOST FOR THE SOX, MORGADO WILL BE A FIRST ROUNDER NEXT YEAR.
