Peavy isn’t Chicago Tough yet:
Jake Peavy probably will need at least two more rehab starts before joining the White Sox. The current belief is that Peavy needs the time to build his arm strength after a seven-week layoff. He is lined up to make his Sox debut Aug. 28 at New York or even Sept. 3 at Wrigley Field.
The Sox lean towards Sept. 3.
BTW, Peavy’s next start will be with Birmingham or Charlotte:
Peavy said before the game he expects to pitch twice more on his rehabilitation assignment, first next Tuesday — most likely for Charlotte at Durham or at Double-A Birmingham — and then on Aug. 23, most likely for Charlotte at Gwinnett. That would put him on target to make his Sox debut Aug. 28 at Yankee Stadium.
