You can’t touch this
According to a major-league source, Williams made one more pass at Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay three days ago and was told ”no sale” by Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi. In fact, Ricciardi told Williams there was nothing in the Sox’ system that caught his interest. Then again, Williams wasn’t exactly pushing all his chips in, either. Contrary to the fairy tale of a deal that was mentioned in the Chicago Tribune on Thursday morning, Gavin Floyd and Alexei Ramirez never were offered. Neither was John Danks or Gordon Beckham. Williams always says there are no untouchables in his organization, but those four actually have become that.
Alexei Ramirez’ X-rays negative; Lillibridge back in Charlotte
Checking for flights to Charlotte:
The fact that infielder/outfielder Brent Lillibridge was in the clubhouse before the White Sox’ game Thursday against the New York Yankees wasn’t a good sign. But things got better when the Sox told Lillibridge their emergency was over and he could board the next plane back to Class AAA Charlotte. That meant the tests done on the right ankle of injured shortstop Alexei Ramirez came back negative and Ramirez wouldn’t be going on the 15-day disabled list.
