Besides the White Sox, the Javelinas will be featuring players from the Tigers, the Dodgers, the Brewers, and the Mariners. The Javelinas will be coached by Kevin Bradshaw, a long-time Detroit Tigers coach and manager.

The AFL season will run from October 13 through November 21. BTW, due to that there won’t be a lower-level AFL to replace the defunct Hawaii Winter Baseball league, the AFL will allow 2 Class-A level prospects, instead of 1, for each Major League team this year.

Reifert: Ozzie on Alexei: “He’s fine. This kid has no meat. He’s all bone.” Guillen indicated that he hoped Ramirez would be back by Sunday.

Cowley: Missile is probably out un[t]il Monday.

Gregor: Guillen said Ramirez was walking around much better today, and he could be back in the lineup Sunday. Brent Lillibridge was brought up from Class AAA Charlotte as an insurance policy, but it looks like Ramirez is going to be good to go.

UPDATED: Gonzales: Meanwhile, Alexei Ramirez could return as soon as Sunday after Guillen said his shortstop suffered a normal sprain of his right ankle Wednesday. “He was walking a little bit better,” Guillen said. “This kid has no meat. Everything is bones. I checked his feet and said, ‘you’re getting a pedicure. You’re not going to the doctor.’ “

Sox  Net:

Bruce Levine is reporting that Ken Williams is seeking a top-flight defensive outfielder for the pennant race and that one of those options is former Cubs phenom Felix Pie. Evidently the Sox have been scouting Pie for over six weeks and the Tribune’s Mark Gonzalez is further substantiating the rumor, indicating on Wednesday, that the White Sox, will try to trade recently demoted infielder Josh Fields for Pie. …

Kenny is seeking a top-flight defensive outfielder? LOL! Let’s trade for Brian Anderson!
