23-year old Justin Greene was promoted to the Winston-Salem Dash (A+) from the Kannapolis Intimidators (A). Greene was hitting .303/.394/.444/.838 with 66 K’s and 30 BB’s. 23-year old Tyson Corley was promoted to Winston-Salem from Kannapolis too. Corley has a 0.95 ERA (1.105 WHIP) with 38 K’s and 9 BB’s in 38.0 innings.
To make room for Greene and Corley, Winston-Salem placed Levi Maxwell on the DL and demoted Kyle Shelton to Kannapolis.
UPDATE: Greene’s trying to improve on hitting off-speed pitches.
The left-hander will start again Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays in an important outing for himself and the team.
”He has to get better,” manager Ozzie Guillen said. ”[His potential] is why we have him in there now, but this isn’t the instructional league. I don’t want to see another outing like the last few.”
Garcia was at U.S. Cellular Field Sunday morning, and he’ll throw a bullpen session Monday. If all goes well, the 33-year-old pitcher will head to the minor leagues and try pitching his way back to the big leagues.
Freddy isn’t concerned about his velocity:
“Velocity doesn’t really matter for me. I can get people out if I throw 83 or 88. As long as my arm strength is there, I’m OK.”
