“I’m definitely getting better reads off the bat,” said Beckham, adding that he has learned to stay in one spot on certain grounders. “I feel more comfortable every day.”
Beckham said he has benefited from early work, particularly in stadiums where he hasn’t played, to familiarize himself with the different surfaces and backgrounds.
“I don’t have to be told by (bench coach) Joey Cora or (manager) Ozzie Guillen to move back with two strikes,” Beckham said. “I’m figuring it out. It’s come a lot easier for me.”
