Allen could have plenty of time in Triple A to develop. He knows he still has things to learn. Some of those lessons will undoubtedly come from Knights manager Chris Chambliss, a Gold Glove winner at first base in 1978, who enjoyed a 17-year major league career.
“Chambliss worked with me in spring training on picks at first base. I took to him. I hope he took to me,” Allen said. “I try to learn something new every year to improve my game. This year I’m learning to just have fun and relax.”
Chambliss is getting reacquainted with his new first baseman.
“Allen just got to us. He is a mature kid and that gets recognized. I think the organization knew he was mentally ready to move up. He has worked hard on his defense and has made tremendous improvement,” Chambliss said. …
